Gerald Panneton | Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Panneton is a geologist with over 35 years of experience in domestic and international exploration and development in the gold mining industry. During his career, he has played a key role in the discovery and advancement of several gold deposits worldwide. He joined Gold Terra in October 2019.
Mr. Panneton was the founder, President and CEO of Detour Gold Corporation (2006-13), where under his leadership, the Detour Lake project grew over tenfold from 1.5 million ounces in resources to over 16 million ounces in reserves and brought into production in just over six years. Today, the Detour Lake mine ranks as one of the largest gold mines in Canada. Mr. Panneton raised approximately $2.6 billion in capital while at Detour Gold. Mr. Panneton and his Detour Gold team were the recipients of the PDAC 2011 Bill Dennis Award for Canadian mineral discoveries and prospecting success of the year.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Panneton spent 12 years at Barrick Gold Corporation (1994-2006), where for the last six years of his tenure, he was Director of Advanced Projects and Evaluations for the exploration and corporate development group. He was instrumental in advancing two gold projects towards production, Tulawaka and Buzwagi in Tanzania. Prior to Barrick Gold, he worked for Lac Minerals Ltd., Placer Dome Inc. and Vior-Mazarin Group.
Mr. Panneton has also been at the head of four other junior mining companies between 2014 and 2019; his last company, Gold matter Corporation, was acquired by Gold Terra in the fall of 2019.
Mr. Panneton received his Bachelor of Science in Geology from the University of Montreal and his Master of Science in Geology from McGill University.
Patsie Ducharme, CPA, CGA | Director
Ms. Ducharme is a financial executive who brings over 25 years of experience in projects, mergers and acquisitions, financing, operations and strategic development in the mining, pulp, paper, forestry, and packaging sectors. Ms. Ducharme is a Chartered Professional Accountant and has over 15 years of experience as a Chief Financial Officer. She is currently Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary of a private company as well as a Board Member and Audit Committee Member of Kruger Specialty Papers Holding. Ms. Ducharme has a strong background in the development and execution of strategic plans that include large construction projects and major capital expenditures.
Laurie Gaborit | Director
Laurie Gaborit has over 20 years of investor relations and corporate communications experience in the mining industry. She recently held the position of Vice President, Investor Relations, at Detour Gold Corporation. As a key member of Detour Gold’s management team, she participated in the company’s initial public offering in 2007 and its transformation from exploration company to intermediate gold producer within a seven-year period, during which time Detour Gold’s market capitalization increased from $120 million to over $3 billion.
Ms. Gaborit holds a Bachelor of Science in geology (Hons.) and is a member of the Canadian Investor Relations Institute (CIRI) Board. In 2019, she was the recipient of the CIRI Belle Mulligan Award for Leadership in Investor Relations.
Louis Dionne | Director
Mr Dionne was an instrumental part of the Detour Gold team and director from 2006 to 2014. He helped build the Detour lake mine into one of today’s largest Canadian gold producers. Prior to his involvement with Detour, he was mine manager at Camflo Mines in Quebec, which eventually became part of Barrick Gold. Mr. Dionne spent over 20 years in the operations and development of gold properties, as Senior Vice President, Underground Operations for Barrick. In this capacity, he had operating responsibility for Barrick's underground operations. He developed the high grade Meikle mine and Rodeo project in Nevada and the Holt-McDermott Mine in Ontario. Mr. Dionne also provided technical input and leadership in the area of corporate mergers and acquisitions for Barrick. Following his tenure at Barrick, Mr. Dionne became President and CEO of Richmont Mines Inc. (2002 -2005), a junior gold producer with operations in Quebec and Newfoundland. Mr. Dionne was also a director of Aurizon Mines from 2006-2013. He is a graduate of Laval University in Quebec where he holds a bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering.
Hellen Siwanowicz, LL.B. | Director
Hellen Siwanowicz brings over 25 years of business law experience. Ms. Siwanowicz is currently a corporate director and legal consultant. From 1991 to 2016, Ms. Siwanowicz practiced law at McMillan LLP and its predecessor, Lang Michener LLP, with an emphasis on securities law. She has significant experience advising public companies on corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory compliance and corporate governance matters.
Ms. Siwanowicz received her LLB degree from the University of Toronto and was named one of The Best Lawyers in Canada in 2017: Mining Law and was named to The Legal 500 Canada in 2015.
